Straight out of the 50's Northwest onto the streets of Brooklyn, Matt Domingues is like a movie character. With nothing but a knapsack,a cellphone held together with a rubberband, and a banjo, he had hitch hiked from California. He was a genius banjo player with the instinct and command that made his playing seem as if it were magically bestowed on him..and indeed he was self taught. He had on two pairs of pants, beat up brown leather shoes and had an old leather journal in his back pocket that also seemed to serve as a wallet. This trip was his first out of California , it was October..and he was on his way to Maine to see the leaves change.
I take my camera everywhere. Sometimes I make the picture, sometimes it comes to me; I am just there to document it, but every subject I shoot, I know that I'm meant to. This blog is a scrapbook of pictures, interests and people who inspire something in me. Both my grandfathers were photographers. My Father, who I am named after,is an Emmy winning documentary film maker and our cousin was Basquiat. I can only see the necessity to create as something genetic. Painting to me, is the Gemini twin of photography; the private, internal balance to the social external one. Whether I'm photographing or painting a tree, an actor, a skyline, rockstar,a hawk or a yogi, I always walk away having learned something about life, love, art and faith. And isn't that what it's all about? Oh yeah, and all of THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE COPYRIGHTED UNDER LAW AND CANNOT BE COPIED,REPRINTED,
OR USED IN ANY OTHER FORMAT WITHOUT ARTISTS PERMISSION . THANKS FOR VISITING!
